The 2012 Redfish School of Change runs from May 16th to June 23rd, beginning in the Slocan Valley of British Columbia and ending near Vancouver. Click here for a map of the region. Some assignments are due before and after the field school.
2012 Sample Itinerary
April 18: Course readings available and pre-assignment — My Bioregional Backpack — posted for participants.
May 7: My Bioregional Backpack written assignment due.
May 16: Arrival at Little Slocan Lodge
in West Kootenays with pick-up available from Castlegar, BC.
May 17: Program begins in Slocan, BC.
May 17–31: Activities, workshops, field trips and wilderness adventure. throughout the West Kootenays,
based from the Little Slocan Lodge.
June 1–5: Ecological restoration and service learning in southern Okanagan.
June 6–12: Voyageur canoe trip down Fraser River
from Hope to Vancouver with various stops and guests along the way.
June 13–17: Activities, workshops and field
trips based from Vancouver.
June 18–23: Wilderness
marine trip.
June 23: Program ends in/near Vancouver.
July 13: Written assignment due for each course.
After June 23: Follow-up support and mentorship on student action
projects through to the end of 2012.
