- To explore a diversity of perspectives and concepts of leadership, sustainability and action.
- To run a program based on service, aiding and assisting community conservation and social organizations we partner with.
- To examine what it means to live within one’s own bioregion. We draw from a coastal biorgeion in British Columbia, focusing on global understanding and local action.
- To foster critical and creative thinking and understanding through a holistic systems approach.
- To model positive social change, explore how change is created, and put it into practice.
- To create a sense of belonging, build community, work collaboratively, and foster cross-sectoral and cross-generational alliances.
- To promote a personal balance of mind, body, heart and spirit, and provide a balance of scientific, fact-based learning with the arts and creativity.
- To be participant-driven and personally relevant by meeting the needs and interests of students so they can successfully transfer learning to their unique situations and communities. Students will be empowered with hard and soft skills, and the confidence and support to act on their beliefs.
- To immerse students in the natural world to foster greater ecological literacy.
- To provide an experiential process and encourage personal transformation.
- To connect individuals to a sense of intention, meaning and purpose.
- To offer follow-up support, resources and mentorship, and recommend optional post-program internships to students.
